What Is Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation?
The pelvic floor consists of muscle and connective tissue that wraps around the base of the pelvis like a hammock. These muscles support organs such as the bladder, bowel and, in women, the uterus, and they provide control of urine and stool. Childbirth, aging, hormonal changes or long-standing increased intra-abdominal pressure can weaken these muscles. Pelvic floor rehabilitation is a physiotherapy approach that aims to correctly assess these muscles and strengthen them again with a personalized program.
This is a topic that is difficult for many people to talk about. Our priority is to conduct the process with full respect for privacy, in a professional and understanding environment.
Who Is It Suitable For?
- Urinary incontinence — those who experience leakage during coughing, sneezing or exertion
- The postpartum period — mothers whose pelvic floor muscles have weakened
- The menopausal period — those with complaints related to hormonal changes
- Those who describe a feeling of pressure, heaviness or prolapse in the pelvic region
- Anyone who wants to correctly recognize and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles
How Is It Applied?
The process begins with our physiotherapist's detailed, privacy-respecting assessment. Most people do not know how to correctly contract and relax these muscles; therefore, the first step is to develop correct muscle awareness. Then breathing exercises, pelvic floor contraction-relaxation exercises and trunk stabilization are taught together, gradually. The program is planned entirely according to the person's condition and is updated regularly.
Benefits

- Helps reduce urinary incontinence complaints in many cases
- Supports the postpartum recovery process
- Helps reduce the feeling of pressure and heaviness in the pelvic region
- Contributes to helping the person regain their quality of life and self-confidence
What We Do
We handle this sensitive topic with full privacy and professionalism. First, our physician and physiotherapist assess you in an understanding environment and identify the source of the complaint. We never regard the program as a standard exercise list; each person's condition, birth history and needs are different.
In the exercises, we base our approach on the APPI method, combining breathing control with pelvic floor and trunk strengthening to prepare a fully personalized program. Throughout the process, we keep you informed and progress at a pace at which you feel comfortable at every step. Our aim is to help you regain your quality of life and self-confidence permanently.
