What Is Medical Massage?

Unlike classic massage applied for relaxation, medical massage is a clinical manual therapy method applied toward a specific diagnosis and treatment goal. The aim is to release tension in the musculoskeletal system, increase circulation and reduce pain. The application is carried out by the physiotherapist applying pressure to the muscles, tendons and soft tissues by hand, using different depths and techniques.

When Is It Used?

  • Muscle spasm and tension — in tense muscle groups of the lower back, neck, upper back and shoulder region.
  • Chronic pain — as a supportive measure in long-standing lower back and neck pain.
  • Postural disorders — in muscle imbalances due to desk work and poor posture.
  • Sports injuries — in muscle fatigue and stiffness due to overuse.
  • Circulation problems — in conditions where regional blood flow is reduced.

How Is It Applied?

Before medical massage, the painful and tense region is assessed. Then the specialist physiotherapist applies techniques such as stroking, kneading, rubbing and trigger point pressure, adjusting them according to the targeted tissue and the person's tolerance. The duration and intensity of the application are determined entirely according to the person and the region being treated.

Benefits

  • Helps reduce pain by relaxing tense muscles.
  • Supports regional blood and lymph circulation.
  • Contributes to increasing joint range of motion.
  • Prepares the tissue before manual therapy and exercise, increasing the efficiency of treatment.

What We Do

We see medical massage not as a standalone treatment, but as a part of our holistic approach. First, our physician performs the physical examination and draws up the treatment protocol. To prepare the ground for chiropractic and mobilization applications, our specialist physiotherapists apply clinical massage to tense muscle groups. Once the muscles have relaxed, we aim for lasting recovery through a personalized exercise program. Because as a principle we know that there is no disease, there is a patient; for this reason we shape the application entirely according to the person.

Don't postpone your pain.

With the right assessment and a personalised programme, the step you take today can change your tomorrow.
