What Is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping therapy is a complementary treatment method with a very long history, applied by creating a vacuum (negative pressure) inside special cups placed on the skin surface. The vacuum effect gently draws the skin and the soft tissues beneath it upward. The aim is to relax tight muscles, improve local circulation and provide relief in the tissues.
When Is It Used?
- Muscle tension and spasm — in tight muscles of the back, low back and neck.
- Chronic pain — as a supportive approach for long-standing muscle-related pain.
- Circulation problems — in cases of reduced local blood flow.
- Hernia-related muscle tension — for stiffness in the lumbar and cervical regions.
- Athletic muscle fatigue — for tension caused by overuse.
How Is It Applied?
Before the application, the tight area is identified. After the cups are placed on the skin, the air inside is drawn out to create a vacuum. The cups may be kept in a fixed position, or a suitable oil may be applied to the skin so they can be used as sliding cups. It is normal for a temporary redness or mark to appear in the area afterward, and this usually disappears within a few days.
Benefits
- Provides relief by promoting relaxation in tight muscles.
- Helps increase local blood circulation.
- Supports the reduction of muscle-related pain.
- Prepares the tissue before manual therapy and exercise.
What We Do
We apply cupping therapy as a complementary part of our manual treatment approach. After our physician's examination and diagnosis, our expert physiotherapists use cupping therapy together with mobilization and clinical massage to relax tight muscle groups. Once the muscles are relaxed, we support spinal alignment with chiropractic care, then aim for lasting recovery with a personalized exercise program. The goal of our holistic approach is to send you off with complete satisfaction.
