What Is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is an exercise method that combines classical Pilates principles with physiotherapy knowledge and is planned entirely on an individual basis. What distinguishes it from classical Pilates is that each movement is selected after a physiotherapist's assessment, according to the person's pain, posture and muscle balance. The aim is to correctly engage the deep abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles that wrap around the trunk (what we call the natural corset).

We do not regard exercise as a standard prescription. The human body is a three-dimensional structure; for this reason, we believe that exercise should also be three-dimensional, combined with breathing and goal-oriented.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Low back and neck pain — especially chronic pain related to herniation and postural disorders
  • Postural disorders — for desk workers and those who sit for long periods
  • After surgery and injury — during periods requiring controlled strengthening
  • Muscle weakness and imbalance — for people with weak trunk stabilization
  • Those who want to improve general fitness, flexibility and body awareness

How Is It Applied?

First, our physiotherapist assesses your posture, range of motion and muscle balance. Then the program begins on a mat or with special spring-loaded equipment such as the reformer, using movements suited to your level. The exercises are performed slowly, in a controlled manner and accompanied by breathing; correct form, not speed, is the priority. The movements are gradually made more challenging according to the person's progress.

Benefits

  • Strengthens the trunk and lower back muscles, providing natural support to the spine
  • Helps reduce low back and neck pain complaints in many cases
  • Corrects posture and improves balance and coordination
  • Increases flexibility and quality of movement
  • Reduces the risk of new injury by raising body awareness

What We Do

For us, Clinical Pilates is never a standard group class. First, our physician and physiotherapist assess you in detail; if there is pain or restriction, we identify its source. If pain and tension are prominent, we first relax the muscles with our manual therapy methods, then move on to strengthening.

In the exercise phase, we base our work on the APPI method; that is, we combine breathing exercises with strengthening to design a three-dimensional, fully personalized program. Because there is no disease, there is a patient; every body has different needs. At every step of the process, our physiotherapist is with you and monitors your progress.

Don't postpone your pain.

With the right assessment and a personalised programme, the step you take today can change your tomorrow.
