What Is Kinesiology Taping?
Kinesiology taping, also known as sports taping, is a method that aims to support muscles and joints with special elastic tapes applied to the skin. Unlike classic rigid tapes, these tapes do not restrict movement; because they have a structure close to the elasticity of the skin, they provide support while allowing natural movements.
When Is It Used?
- Muscle tension and spasm — to support and relax tense muscles.
- Lower back and neck pain — to reduce the load on the spine and create a corset-like effect.
- Sports injuries — in conditions requiring joint and muscle support.
- Edema and swelling — to support regional circulation.
- Postural support — to create muscle awareness in postural disorders.
How Is It Applied?
Before taping, the targeted muscle or joint is identified. The specialist physiotherapist applies the tape to the skin with the correct tension and technique, following the course of the muscle. The direction and amount of tension applied vary according to the aim: sometimes to support the muscle, sometimes to relax it, sometimes to increase circulation. The tape can remain on the skin for several days, and in this way its effect is spread throughout the day.
Benefits
- Supports muscles and joints without restricting movement.
- When applied with the correct technique, helps reduce pain through a corset-like effect.
- Contributes to supporting regional circulation.
- Ensures that the effect of treatment extends beyond the session, throughout the day.
What We Do
We usually finish our sessions with kinesiology taping so that treatment is not limited to the time you spend in the clinic but is spread throughout the day. Following our physician's examination and our physiotherapists' manual applications, chiropractic and personalized exercises, we apply taping with the correct technique to support tense muscle groups and the spine. Our aim is to support your muscles throughout the day and to make the healing process uninterrupted.
