Gyrotonic Exercise

What Is Gyrotonic Exercise?

Gyrotonic is a three-dimensional exercise system, performed on special equipment, that works the body with circular, spiraling and flowing movements. While most classical exercises work along straight lines, Gyrotonic moves the spine and joints in their natural directions of motion with continuous, flowing movements. Each movement is coordinated with the breath, which develops both flexibility and control at the same time.

Because this method is very well suited to the three-dimensional structure of the human body, it aligns with our holistic understanding of exercise.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Those who want to increase spinal mobility and flexibility
  • Those experiencing stiffness in the low back, back and neck region
  • People with limited joint range of motion
  • Those with postural disorders who want to improve trunk control
  • Athletes and dancers seeking flowing, controlled quality of movement

How Is It Applied?

The application begins after our physiotherapist's assessment, with the selection of equipment and movements suited to you. Gyrotonic's specialized spring- and pulley-based equipment provides gentle resistance to the movements, working the joints without straining them. The movements are performed slowly, in a circular manner and accompanied by breathing. The range and resistance of the movements are gradually increased according to the person's progress.

Benefits

  • Increases range of motion in the spine and joints
  • Improves balance by strengthening the deep trunk muscles
  • Helps reduce tension in the muscles
  • Improves posture and movement coordination
  • Increases breathing capacity and body awareness

What We Do

We use Gyrotonic not on its own, but as part of our holistic treatment understanding. First, our physiotherapist assesses your posture and quality of movement; if necessary, we relax the tight muscles with manual therapy before moving on to exercise.

We plan the program entirely individually and, with our three-dimensional approach that combines breathing with movement, aim to give your spine natural, flowing freedom of movement. Every session proceeds under the supervision of our physiotherapist; our goal is a controlled, high-quality and lasting capacity for movement.

Don't postpone your pain.

With the right assessment and a personalised programme, the step you take today can change your tomorrow.
